What Were You Thinkin' 'Naughty Boy' Floyd?

I was a viewer the night, Floyd Mayweather launched a wild and certainly uncalled for tirade on fellow boxer Manny Pacquiao on his Ustream about a week ago.

In the video, Mayweather was understandably upset about how he felt Pacquiao and his party has handle negotiations to get a fight between the two that the whole world is interested in.

But Floyd, to go into racial and homophobic slurs on a network that can be seen across the world makes me think twice about the public relations people you have around you.

You are entitled to think what you want about the man but a man of your prestige should certainly know when to keep your personal feelings, exactly that, personal feelings and do not share them with millions around the world.

Also, Floyd as a fellow Black man, I am disappointed in you because if Manny had done the same thing. I think you would have cried "murdered" and the NAACP, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and whatever prominent Black leader you can think of would have been called to action, like they have many times before.

Mr. Mayweather, you are looked up to by many young boxers and youngsters in urban communities around this country as an idol and you pull a stunt like this? It is one thing to keep it "street" but it's another matter when you keep it "stupid" because that was exactly what it was. There was nothing "street" about it.

You could have went at the man's credibility without the homophobic and racial slurs. I know you are furious at allegations that he has been doping and is afraid to take your drug-testing requirements, in order to put a fight together but you have to remain smart especially in the technology age, where information gets passed from person to person in a matter of seconds. You had to know within hours you would be reprimanded for you actions.

Let us go back to an old adage, "Put yourself in his shoes" and when I mean his shoes, I am referring to Manny Pacquiao, he is a minority just like you are a minority, you both will always get the short-end of the stick as long as there are people in this world who are narrow-minded. Just because you come from different countries and cultures does not mean you are much different than one another because at the end of the day you both are looked at like prized-horses, when you are hot, you are hot, when you are not, they will find someone new to replace you.

You have to judge things accordingly Floyd, especially in a sport that is definitely going downhill each decade. You and Pacquiao are the boxers needed to bring the sport back to its glory-days. Certainly actions like this would turn anyone with a beating heart off from such a lucrative boxing match despite the money involved because money should never win over a person's integrity.

So Floyd, next time you want to voice your opinion I want you to think that you are not too far removed from being ridiculed either.
